Pam Pipes (Long)

A Celebration of Life service for the Christian home going of Pamela Sue (Pipes) Long will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark, with Greg Robbins and Dave Mason officiating.  Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.  

    Friends and family may call from 4-7pm, Friday, January 3, 2014, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st Street and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

    Pam, 67, a lifelong resident of Newark, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family. She had courageously fought a three year battle with cancer. Pam was the oldest of three children born to the late Virgil Eugene and Audrey (Hickman) Pipes.  She was a 1964 graduate of Newark High School and married her high school sweetheart, Dave Long. While Dave was in the US Navy, she had worked as a civilian in the Department of Separations. Following Dave’s service in the Navy, Pam began her career in her families’ insurance business, Pipes Insurance Agency in Newark, as a licensed insurance agent. In addition, until the time of her illness, she was a realtor with Century 21 Frank Fry Real Estate. Over the years, Pam was involved with numerous organizations, including the Licking County Board of Realtors, Newark Soroptimist organization and a Tuesday afternoon bowling league. She was a member of the Heath Church of Christ.

    On September 25, 1965, she married David A. Long and they raised one son, Bryan (Jennifer) Long of Newark and they had her three beloved grandchildren, who received her all-inclusive love and attention, Bradley Long, Michael Long, Ashley Long. Her family is grateful for all the devotion, sacrifices, great examples, and wisdom that she showed them over the years.  Surviving are her sister, Betsy (Charles) Hupp of Newark and brother Rick (Julie) Pipes of Howard; nieces and nephews, Mandy (Shannon) Quinn, Chrissy (Derek) Reedy, Ricky, Ryan and Reed Pipes;  great nieces and nephews, Garet Warner, Kaden Warner, Kaelin Quinn, Madison Quinn, Zander Reedy, Skylar Reedy.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Ashton Reedy.

    Memorial contributions in Pam’s memory may be made to the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, Ohio 43056.

Sally Williams (Gartner)

Pam was such a nice person, and I will miss her very much. She made every effort to keep on, keeping on, and was an inspiration to many. Her faith in God was never shaken. I am sure God will take very good care of her. Sally Gartner.
