Dennis Scott Norton

NEWARK: A funeral service, celebrating the life of Dennis Scott Norton, 65, of Newark, will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, Kirkersville, with Pastor Ronald Hock as celebrant. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.

Dennis died suddenly Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Newark. He was born August 5, 1946 in Newark, the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Norton) Jones. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam, and the National Guard, retiring after 27 years of service. He was also employed by Westinghouse. He was a member of the Eastland Heights Baptist Church in Newark.

Dennis loved knives, woodworking, fishing, & computers; but most of all, he loved being grandpa to his grandchildren. He also adored his animals including his cats Angel and Tommy.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife Marsha, whom he married on August 18, 1965, his children: Greg Norton of Virginia, Melissa Balo and Chris (Lisa) Norton, all of Newark; his grandchildren WEstley, Logan, Cortlyn, Anna, Christian and Ella; his sisters Linda Rossiter of Thornville and Wanda (Rick) West of Newark, along with many, nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St in Kirkersville. The family requests that memorials be directed to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
